Big Idea 6: The Internet
The Internet is one of mankind’s most vast and widespread inventions that connects billions of computing devices. Consisting of multiple interconnecting networks, the Internet is an infrastructure that provides services to applications such as the world-wide web, social networking, games, video conferencing, and e-commerce. In addition, the Internet reaches into the physical world by being implemented into devices to create the Internet of Things (IoT). The IoT is the extension of Internet connectivity into physical devices and everyday objects. Embedded with electronics, Internet connectivity, and other forms of hardware, these devices can communicate and interact with others over the Internet, and they can be remotely monitored and controlled.
